The Rockies placed rookie third baseman Garrett Atkins on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring. Fellow rookie Jeff Baker was recalled from Double-A Tulsa to replace Atkins. Baker could get the majority of the starts at third while Atkins is out. With Desi Relaford on the DL, Luis Gonzalez is the only other alternative.

Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said yesterday that Garrett Atkins will bat second, following Aaron Miles, according to the Denver Post. He'll be followed in order by Todd Helton, Preston Wilson, Matt Holliday and Dustan Mohr or Brad Hawpe. "I am pretty set in my mind with those first six," Hurdle said.
