After signing Jeff Francis to an extension, the Rockies are now focused on working out a long-term deal with third baseman Garrett Atkins, according to the Denver Post. Such a deal would probably allow the Rockies to trade third base prospect Ian Stewart.

Manager Clint Hurdle said that Garrett Atkins will get a routine day off on Wednesday, according to the Rockies website. Since Colorado has an off day Thursday, that will give Atkins two days of rest.
