Minnesota Twins' catcher Joe Mauer has been voted the AL's Most Oustanding Player by the Major League Baseball Players Association, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Twins' catcher Joe Mauer is dealing with a hip flexor issue. Mauer told manager Ron Gardenhire that he wants to remain behind the plate the rest of the way.

Joe Mauer went 2-for-4 and worked a pair of walks in the Twins 4-3, 11-inning loss to the Yankees on Friday night. They head home to Minnesota trailing 2-0 in the series.

The New York Times is reporting that Twins' catcher Joe Mauer is not interested in being the highest paid player in the game when he becomes a free agent after next season. "Just having the chance to win would be important to me," he said.
