Morneau posted his first double of the year as well as his first homer of the season, going long in the 4th off Gil Meche. He collected an impressive four RBIs on the day, a strong outing for a man that was struggling (bringing his batting average to .150).

Justin Morneau inked a six-year, $80 million contract with the Twins on Friday, according to the AP. Morneau's numbers dipped a bit in 2007 after winning the MVP Award in 2006, but he's still one of the top first-base options in the game.

Justin Morneau avoided arbitration with the Twins on Thursday by signing a one-year deal worth $7.4 million. The slugger made $4.5 million in 2007. Morneau, who hit just seven homers in the second half last year (24 in the first half), won't be a free agent until after the 2010 season.
