Justin Morneau doesn't plan on participating in the Home Run Derby in the future. He thinks this year's contest affected his swing, as he had 24 homers before the All-Star break compared with six in the second half, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "I don't want to make it sound like an excuse," he said. "I just haven't felt the same since then." It's fun to see sluggers like Morneau participate in the Derby, but fantasy owners should see this news as a good thing.

Justin Morneau, out since Friday with a bruised lung, passed more medical tests Wednesday, the AP reports. "He's going to start working out and we'll gauge that accordingly to how he feels day-to-day. When he tells us he can get out there and start running around and playing, that's when he'll play," manager Ron Gardenhire said. Morneau is expected to hit in the batting cage soon.

Justin Morneau continues to be closely monitored as he recovers from a bruised lung, and the first baseman isn’t sure when he’ll be back in the lineup. “I’ don’t want to put a date on it,” Morneau told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “You don’t want to push it too much, then all of a sudden I’m out for two or three weeks… We have to see how it goes, then I have to run around a little bit and see how it feels.”

Justin Morneau was back in the Twin Cities on Monday after spending three days in a Miami hospital with a bruised lung, and he could be back in the Twins lineup as early as Wednesday. “I was told the possibility of Wednesday or Thursday, if he feels up to it he can play,” manager Ron Gardenhire told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Justin Morneau was released from a Miami-area hospital on Monday, according to the AP. He bruised his right lung Friday in a collision with Florida Marlins catcher Miguel Olivo and spent two days in the hospital. "Everything checked out fine," manager Ron Gardenhire said. Justin Morneau did not fly home with his teammates on Sunday afternoon because of his bruised right lung. "He'll probably end up flying back Monday," manager Ron Gardenhire told the Associated Press. "He says he's feeling fine. He has been text-messaging people, but they're being very cautious, and rightfully so." We’re not sure how strenuous Gardenhire thinks text-messaging is, but it is hardly a sign a guy is healing quickly from a bruised lung. Morneau is still awaiting another round of tests and will likely be allowed home Monday unless something alarming pops up in the results.
