Chris Capuano will likely have to undergo a second Tommy John surgery on his injured elbow, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He previously had the surgery in 2002.

Chris Capuano still hopes to avoid surgery on his pitching elbow and he has begun a throwing program to attempt to do just that, according to MLB.com. "The feeling of the therapist was [the possible need for surgery] won't surface until he goes through his throwing program," assistant GM Gord Ash said.

Chris Capuano will try rehab on his ailing elbow before considering Tommy John surgery, according to ESPN.com. He has been placed on the 15-day DL Thursday, retroactive to March 21, and will try rehabbing his left elbow for the next three to four weeks. The decision came after Capuano visited with Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday and underwent a second MRI. Andrews performed Capuano's first elbow ligament replacement procedure in 2002. Capuano was informed Sunday that he has a torn ligament in his pitching elbow and would probably need Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career. He hopes to play again this season if the rehab works.

Chris Capuano's injury is worse than believed, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The inflammation that he was suffering with turned out to be a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow, and he could miss significant time. He may also need his second Tommy John surgery.

Chris Capuano had an MRI on his elbow on Thursday morning, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Capuano felt pain in his left elbow, which forced him to leave his start on Monday. The team is calling his elbow ailment soreness and inflammation. Capuano will be examined by team physician William Raasch on Saturday, and he is not expected to pitch before that. He had a rough spring overall, and his chances to lock up a rotation spot are dwindling.
