MLB.com is reporting that A's infielder Bobby Crosby is nearing a return to the team. Crosby did some running on Thursday for the first time since being placed on the DL with a calf injury, and he is eligible to come off the DL on September 2.

Bobby Crosby is unlikely to return to Oakland after this season, according to the Mercury News. He will become a free agent in the offseason and he said, "The team is obviously moving in a different direction, and I have made it very clear I want to play shortstop. If the opportunity was given to me to play shortstop here, I would have no problem coming back, but I know that is not going to be the case."
