The Yankees still plan to use Chien-Ming Wang as their Game 1 starter against Detroit. Mike Mussina is slated to start Game 2 and Randy Johnson the third game of the ALDS.

Chien-Ming Wang will start the Yankees playoff opener, followed by Mike Mussina and Randy Johnson. Wang's been much more effective at home this year (2.88 ERA, versus 4.35 on the road), so it makes sense that he'll begin the post-season working at Yankee Stadium. He celebrated the appointment by winning his 19th game of the year Wednesday against Baltimore.

The Yankees scratched Chien-Ming Wang from his scheduled start Thursday night due to predicted rainshowers that could interfere with the game, according to the AP. Wang will pitch Friday against Boston instead. Rookie Jeff Karstens took the mound for the Yankees Thursday night in place of Wang.

Recovered sufficiently from a sore knee, Chien-Ming Wang was named the Yankees' No. 3 starter by manager Joe Torre on Friday, according to the AP. In Friday's exhibition game, he allowed three runs on seven hits over four innings, while striking out two and walking one.

Chien-Ming Wang, who took a line drive off of his right knee on Sunday, isn't expected to throw his bullpen session today and could miss his final exhibition start on Friday, according to Newsday. It remains to be seen if he'll be ready to make his first start of the season.
