The Orioles acquired Freddie Bynum from the Cubs Wednesday in exchange for a player to be named later, according to the Sports Network. Bynum, who hit .254 with four homers, 20 RBI and eight swipes in 136 at-bats with the Cubs last year, can play all three outfield positions and will be used in a utility role by the O's.

The Cubs activated Freddie Bynum from the DL Monday, according to the AP. Bynum has been sidelined since June 25 with right shoulder inflammation. He hit .260 in 41 games with the Cubs earlier this season. Bynum will back up at all three outfield spots, as well as shortstop and second base.

An exam on the right shoulder of Freddie Bynum revealed that the blood clots were gone, according to the AP. "So maybe he can start baseball activities again soon," manager Dusty Baker said. Bynum has been on the DL since late June.

Freddie Bynum returned to the Cubs Tuesday after a hospital stay in Minnesota with a blood clot in his right shoulder, according to the AP. Cubs trainer Mark O'Neal said Bynum will be re-examined in a month after they see how blood-thinning medication works. Bynum had surgery on a blood clot in that shoulder in 2004.

Initial test results were inconclusive, but Freddie Bynum is expected to spend the next few days in a hospital, while doctors determine whether he has a blood clot in his swollen right arm, according to the Daily Southtown. He had a clot removed from his shoulder in 2004. The Cubs placed him on the disabled list Sunday.

The Cubs placed Freddie Bynum on the DL Sunday with shoulder inflammation, according to the AP. Bynum left Saturday night's game after discovering swelling in his right arm. Head trainer Mark O'Neal said Bynum "has had a history of some swelling and blood issues in his throwing arm. It was handled surgically when he was in Oakland."

Freddie Bynum was replaced in the ninth inning by Matt Murton Saturday because he was experiencing swelling in his right arm, according to the AP. He was taken to a hospital to determine the cause, though he said he had a blood clot in the arm a few years ago. "I'd like to find out what's going on," Bynum said.

It was Bynum's second start of the season, and his first in the infield. he started his career as a shortstop before moving to second base and then learning to play center field.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the Cubs would be interested in claiming utilityman Freddie Bynum should the A's expose him to waivers. Bynum has hit well this spring but it doesn't look like the A's have room to keep him.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that Freddie Bynum is hitting .381 this spring and is making a push to make the A's. Bynum, a former middle infielder who now primarily plays the outfield, is out of options and probably would not clear waivers if the A's tried to send him to the minors.
