"We're giving Jacobs a day, because Hamels is a left-hander," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "It's almost like a day off for Jorge. Instead of playing third, play first. But then tomorrow, he will go back to playing third base.

The court not once, but twice rejected her claims."

Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez formally dubbed Jorge Cantu his starting third baseman on Tuesday, according to the AP. "I really worked hard in the offseason. I have to regain my status. Things have gone real good this spring, but I still have to play good every day," said Cantu. My main goal was to come in and compete for the third-base job. There is still competition out there. But everything is going in the right direction. I came into Spring Training working hard. I worked hard in the offseason with a personal trainer in Houston. It's paying off." Sounds like Cantu is primed for a solid campaign.

"It's a situation that's intriguing to Jorge," Cantu's agent, Steve Canter said in the Sun-Sentinel. "There's a definite connection here. A lot of the front office that was in Tampa is over in Florida now and they're fully aware of his abilities. He had a really strong finish to the season so he'll get a lot of interest from several clubs, but this could end up working out." The Fish are also looking at Dallas McPherson for the hot corner.
