The White Sox have all but shut down John Danks for the rest of the year, meaning Gavin Floyd should stay in the rotation for the remainder of the season, according to the Chicago Tribune. Floyd is slated to make his next start on Tuesday. He has a 2.95 ERA over his last three starts, and although he certainly isn't a sure thing, he might be worth taking a chance on for the stretch run.

Although it appears to be an unlikely scenario, manager Ozzie Guillen hasn't ruled out using a six-man rotation in the future.

It looks like the White Sox will keep Gavin Floyd up with the team for an extended stay. "We want him afforded the same opportunity as others to get comfortable here," general manager Ken Williams said told the Chicago Tribune. Floyd could join the rotation if Jose Contreras or Jon Garland is traded. He could also work in relief or make spot starts, too. Basically, the Sox would like to give him more big league experience.

As expected, the White Sox recalled Gavin Floyd from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday to start the second game of a doubleheader against the Tigers, according to the AP. Floyd, who is is 7-3 with a 3.12 ERA in 17 starts with Charlotte this season, struggled in his lone start with the Pale Hose this season (6 ER in 5.2 IP), and he's likely to be sent back down following today's outing.

In 15 starts at Triple-A this year, Floyd is 7-3 with a 3.10 ERA and 80 Ks in 93 innings. Guillen also mentioned Nick Masset as a candidate to start.

Manager Ozzie Guillen hasn’t made a final decision, but he is leaning towards calling up a minor league pitcher to start on Sunday, rather than throwing Jose Contreras or John Danks on short rest. “I don’t want to overuse either one,” Guillen told the Chicago Sun-Times of Contreras and Danks. Gavin Floyd , who is 1-2 with a 3.74 ERA at Triple-A, would probably get the call if that’s the route the Sox go.

Gavin Floyd was hit for five runs in two innings Friday, perhaps ending the battle for Chicago's final rotation spot. John Danks worked four scoreless innings prior to Floyd entering the game. Floyd now has a 8.44 ERA this month, while Danks is at 4.32.
