The Tigers inked Jeremy Bonderman to a four-year, $38 million contract extension on Monday, according to the Sports Network. "We are thrilled Jeremy Bonderman will remain part of the Tigers organization," said Tigers president, chief executive officer and general manager David Dombrowski. "He is developing into one of the top young pitchers in baseball and we expect him to be a big part of our rotation for years to come." Bonderman went 14-8 with a 4.08 ERA in 34 starts for the Tigers last year with 202 Ks in 214 IP.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the Tigers are expected to pursue a long-term contract extension with Jeremy Bonderman over the offseason rather than try to trade him for a bat. "He's had an immense amount of experience for a 24-year-old," owner Mike Ilitch said. "He went through the rough years and the good period. He's physically in good shape. He's got a great future ahead of him."

Jeremy Bonderman has been pitching through a sprained right ankle lately, according to the Detroit Free Press. "For a couple of starts it was hard to push off, because it was really tender," Bonderman said. "It's still not 100 percent. It feels better. My last couple of starts it's been a lot better."

The AP reports that Tigers manager Jim Leyland may try to get Jeremy Bonderman some extra rest, much like he recently has for Justin Verlander and Kenny Rogers. Bonderman is on pace for 223 innings, 34 more than his previous career high, and he's posted a 4.97 ERA in his last four starts. The Tigers don't have another off day until August 28, but the upcoming return of Mike Maroth could help space out the starters, or the Tigers could give Wil Ledezma another spot start.

It turns out the stomach problem that forced Jeremy Bonderman from his start Saturday was a case of acid reflux, according to the Detroit News. He was feeling better Sunday and should make his next scheduled start.

Manager Jim Leyland removed Jeremy Bonderman from Saturday's game due to tightness in his stomach, according to the AP. Bonderman wanted to stay in the game, but Leyland insisted on taking him out because he was clearly uncomfortable. No futher information is known at this time.
