He was replaced by Ryan Freel, as he is only hitting .083 over 24 at-bats, and Manager Baker commented, "I am giving him a mental day off and let him hit, hit, hit. He's been hitting in the cage. He hit on the field. Just give him a day off and give Ryan Freel a start." Hopefully he can benefit, and get on track soon.

Edwin Encarnacion rebounded from an early error to hit a game-winning home run for the Reds in the bottom of the ninth inning on Wednesday night. Encarnacion struck out twice on the night and will have to manage the strike zone better to reach the heights that some are predicting for him this season. With health, Encarnacion has a solid chance to be a top-15 third basemen this season.

Edwin Encarnacion's spring average dropped to .172 on Tuesday, but his manager isn't worried. "I mean, you've got to look at the back of his bubblegum card. Guys that hit are gonna hit. Right now, he's off," Dusty Baker tells the Cincinnati Enquirer. "Right now, he's not covering the ball away, and he seems like everybody knows it." Baker sounds more confident than fantasy owners right now.
