The Tigers have made Omar Infante available on the trade market, according to the Detroit Free Press. If they don't trade him before Tuesday's tender deadline, they must offer him a contract to maintain their right to trade him before opening day. At this point, the Tigers are expected to offer arbitration to Infante, Jeremy Bonderman, Fernando Rodney, Nate Robertson and Craig Monroe.

Manager Jim Leyland has refused to say that Omar Infante will be his starting second baseman for the rest of the year, despite the fact that Placido Polanco, who is out with a dislocated shoulder, may not return this season, according to the Detroit News. Asked if the Tigers would go out and get some outside help, Leyland stated: "I'll answer this very truthfully. If somebody was available that made more sense, and that Dave Dombrowski felt was the right thing to do, we would certainly look at it."

Omar Infante will take over as the starting second baseman for the Tigers now that Placido Polanco is out indefinitely with a separated shoulder. The Tigers will recall Ramon Santiago to replace Infante as their extra infielder.

Manager Jim Leyland said that he will likely give Curtis Granderson the day off on Wednesday, according to the AP. As a result, Omar Infante will get the nod in center field.

Omar Infante was able to play shortstop Friday for the first time this spring, though he made two errors. However, he tested his sore shoulder with two throws strong enough to convince manager Jim Leyland that he's stong enough to play.

Omar Infante, who has been dealing with a sore right shoulder, still isn't throwing well enough to play shortstop for an extended period, according to the Detroit News. "He's (Infante) still cheating a little bit (on his throws)," manager Jim Leyland said. "But he says it's all right. Sometimes it looks like he favors it. You always worry about stuff like that because we're down here where it's pretty warm, but we'll be where it's cold shortly." Now that Carlos Pena has been released, Infante has been working out some at first base.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland said he is "99.9 percent" sure that Omar Infante has made the team, according to the Detroit News. However, a sore shoulder might restrict Infante's role, at least temporarily.
