The Twins picked up their 2007 option on Carlos Silva Tuesday, according to the AP. The option is worth $4.35 million. Silva went 11-15 last year with a 5.94 ERA.

Carlos Silva cemented his spot in Minnesota's postseason rotation with his solid outing on Sunday against the White Sox. He allowed one run on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. "Huge performance," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "That kind of sets the tone for us. We go into these playoffs, now we know what we've got." Silva will be the team's fourth starter.

Carlos Silva, who left Friday's game against the Rangers with a strained left knee, is scheduled to see a doctor today, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Prior to leaving the game on Friday, he was hammered for five runs in just 1 2/3 innings.

Carlos Silva left Friday night's game against the Rangers in the second inning with a strained right knee, according to the AP. Silva caught his spikes on the mound in the first inning and twisted the knee. The severity of the injury isn't known at this time.

Silva has been working from the bullpen as of late to work out his problems. If Scott Baker struggles in his start tonight, Silva could take his spot in the rotation.

Carlos Silva has been moved temporarily to the bullpen to work out his problems, according to the AP. Silva is 2-6 with an 8.80 ERA in eight starts this year. "He's one of our starters," manager Ron Gardenhire said of Silva. "He's got to be one of our starters for us to be successful. He will go back in the rotation, as soon as he finds his confidence and starts getting his sinker going. That shouldn't take very long, we're hoping." Francisco Liriano will replace Silva in the Minnesota rotation.

After watching tape of his last outing, Carlos Silva noticed that he wasn't keeping his head in line with home plate, which was a reason why his sinker wasn't sinking on Saturday, when he gave up nine runs in 2 2/3 innings to the Tigers, according to the Star Tribune. Silva has thrown two bullpen sessions since Saturday and has fixed the problem. "He was hitting his spots like the old Silva, so he's excited and I'm excited," pitching coach Anderson said. "He had his old sink back. Now he has to take it on the field." Silva will start tonight against the Royals.

The Twins found out yesterday that Carlos Silva will be used by Venezuela as a starter in the WBC, according to the Pioneer Press. The club was concerned he'd pitch out of the bullpen, which could have kept him from building enough stamina for the start of the regular season.
