Aaron Cook was held out of Friday's game as a precaution due to inflammation in his shoulder. "I hope that I just miss that one turn and step right back into the rotation (either Tuesday or Wednesday)," Cook said, according to the Denver Post. "I haven't missed any throwing, so I don't feel like I am behind at all." It appears he has just a minor ailment that shouldn't affect his status for the start of the season, barring any setbacks.

Aaron Cook was scratched from his scheduled start on Friday, according to MLB.com. "He's got inflammation in his right shoulder," a team spokesman said Friday, calling Cook "day-to-day." Aaron Cook signed a 4-year, $34.5 million contract to pitch for the Rockies, and after being injured last last season he spent the off-season rededicating himself to conditioning according to MLB.com. "We're looking for not a fragmented season like we've seen in the past, but a full season, an opportunity to get to 200 innings or somewhere around that mark, and stay healthy," manager Clint Hurdle said. "He's looking for the same." Cook hurled 166 innings last season, a year after throwing 212.2 innings, and this will be the season he hopes to record his first double-digit victory total of his career. Man, $34.5 million just doesn't goes as far as it used to does it? Cook remains nothing more than a bottom tier NL Only option due in part to a sinker that just doesn't allow him to punchout batters, as his career-high in strikeouts is only 92.
