Three teams have emerged as the front-runners to land Johan Santana, but the Mets are not one of them because they are refusing to give up Jose Reyes. "I like going after the big fish, but I can't rob Peter to pay Paul," Omar Minaya said in the NY Post. "I'm not getting rid of Jose Reyes." The Post speculates that the three main contenders for Santana are the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers, though the Cubs, Mariners and Angels have been linked in the discussions, as well.

Despite reportedly saying there was "no doubt" he would be in the lineup Thursday, Jose Reyes did not take part in the contest against the Cubs. He was still dealing with the effects of a cramped hamstring from the day before. The Mets were just being safe with their star, so he should be back in the mix Friday. If he isn't able to face the Yankees this weekend, then obviously it would be time to get concerned.
