Scott Hairston has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a torn ligament in his left thumb, according to the AP. The team recalled pitcher Cla Meredith from Triple-A Portland as the corresponding move.

Scott Hairston may have sustained a broken thumb while attempting a diving catch in the outfield Wednesday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He said, "I thought I jammed the thumb on the dive, but an X-ray seems to show a chipped bone in the thumb."

Scott Hairston hit his eighth home run of July on Sunday against the Pirates. "Scott Hairston has been swinging a hot bat," Black said. "He's got that in his game."

Scott Hairston continues to swing a hot stick. He went 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs, an RBI, and two walks in Monday's win over the Reds. Hairston is 19-for-41 with seven home runs in 13 games this July.
