Coco Crisp visited Dr. Thomas Graham, a Baltimore hand specialist, on Monday and he determined that Crisp does not need surgery on his sprained right thumb, according to the AP. "It's fantastic news," Indians manager Eric Wedge said. "To go from possibly missing two to three months to maybe being back in two to three weeks, it's great to hear. We're pleasantly surprised."

Coco Crisp could miss three months after tearing a ligament in his right thumb while sliding into third base during a game earlier this week, according to the AP. Crisp will be examined on Monday by Dr. Thomas Graham, a hand specialist in Baltimore, who will decide whether Crisp needs an operation to have the ligament restructured. "If he has surgery, he will miss up to three months," said Indians trainer Lonnie Soloff. It's also possible that Crisp may need that long for his thumb to heal completely even if he doesn't have surgery.
