| June 17, 2007 Jonny Gomes had three hits, including a pair of two-run home runs Sunday. Gomes, who was just recalled on Thursday, finished the three-game series against the Rockies 7-for-11 with two doubles to go along with his two homers. "Jonny wants to play every day," manager Joe Maddon said in the AP. "I believe he's the kind of player and the kind of guy we're looking for. He brings a lot of energy." Gomes has been playing over Elijah Dukes the last couple games but will face another challenge to gain at-bats when Rocco Baldelli comes off the DL this week. |

"Right now, I'm 100 percent," said Gomes. "It's great just to be out there. Last year I couldn't even throw. I couldn't do anything over the head." Gomes is hitting .250 (2-for-8) so far this spring. Both of those hits were home runs. |
| February 21, 2007 Jonny Gomes, who underwent shoulder surgery in September, said his shoulder is 100 percent, according to the Tampa Tribune. "I'm full-go," he said. "There's no exercise, no hitting, no throwing that I have to hold back. Right before I left [California] I was throwing the length of a soccer field and hitting live." And although Gomes weighs roughly the same as he did last year, he really bulked up over the offseason. "Did you see Jonny Gomes walking around?" Devil Rays manager Joe Maddon said.
