Bobby Jenks will step back into the closer role as soon as he's healthy, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Jenks has been cleared to return to work after an MRI on his hip revealed no problems; a throwing sesson on Thursday went smoothly. "If Bobby is healthy, he's going to be my closer," Ozzie Guillen said Thursday. "If something happens different, if he's not healthy, we have [right-hander Mike MacDougal] and [left-hander Matt] Thornton to close those games. That's Bobby's job."

Bobby Jenks had an MRI exam on his sore side Tuesday and said Thursday he's fine and ready to pitch, according to the AP. "It was good to see there was no structural damage. It was all muscle so that's something that can be treated fairly easy," Jenks said.

Bobby Jenks, who was sent back to Chicago on Tuesday to get an MRI on his right hip, will rejoin the White Sox on Friday, according to the Daily Southtown. "The MRI basically read negative for any kind of joint problems," trainer Herm Schneider said. "It's a muscular problem, which we were really hoping for."

Bobby Jenks was not available Tuesday evening due to a sore right hip, according to the Daily Southtown. An MRI on the joint came back negative. "He was feeling funny about his hips," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "He should be ready — I don't think (today) — hopefully, he can fly out (today) and come down here. He was complaining last couple of days, for a week already, that he has some soreness in his hips."

Bobby Jenks picked up his first save of the year against the Royals on Sunday, allowing a solo homer to Reggie Sanders while striking out one in the ninth. Manager Ozzie Guillen has stated that Jenks will keep his closer job as long as he throws strikes.

The Chicago Tribune reports that White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen still has faith in Bobby Jenks despite the closer's blown save in the spring training finale. "One bad pitch," Guillen said. "His velocity was 97 or 98 m.p.h."

After Bobby Jenks allowed four runs in the eighth inning on Wednesday, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen left the door open to the possibility that Neal Cotts could take over as the closer, according to the Chicago Tribune. Jenks showed up to camp overweight and has struggled. With Dustin Hermanson having back problems, Cotts is apparently next in line. Guillen said that Jenks would keep his job as long as he threw strikes.

The Daily Southtown reports that Bobby Jenks appears to have gained weight over the winter. "I've gotten stronger this offseason, not bigger," he said. "There are a lot of doubters, I guess, I still have to prove wrong." Manager Ozzie Guillen didn't feel the same way. "He should take a look twice in the mirror," Guillen said. "I hope he's stronger, but he looks a little bigger. Maybe the commercial with McDonald's got him going.
