Bobby Jenks tweaked his right ankle at home during Monday's off day and wasn't available to pitch Tuesday, the AP reports. As it turned out the White Sox trailed most of the night at Oakland and probably wouldn't have used him anyway. Jenks has been brilliant of late, retiring the last 41 batters he's faced, tying the record set in 1972 by San Francisco's Jim Barr.

Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect inning Wednesday and has now retired 35 consecutive batters, three off the AL record held by David Wells in 1998, the AP reports. The major league record is 41 set by San Francisco's Jim Barr in 1972. The Chicago season has been a wreck on many levels, but don't blame Jenks, who's been surprisingly effective for the majority of the year (3.04 ERA, 32 saves).

Bobby Jenks seems to have gotten over the dead arm issues that plagued him this preseason, and he is focusing now on excelling even in non-save situations. “I’m not talking any more about velocity,” Jenks told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I’m getting outs.” According to the Sun-Times, Jenks, who has 10 saves with a 3.68 ERA this season, hit 96 on the radar gun during the ninth inning on Sunday, a significant improvement over the 91-92 miles per hour he was throwing during spring training.

Manager Ozzie Guillen is concerned with closer Bobby Jenks' inconsistency, according to the AP. "One day his velocity is there, the next day it's not," Guillen said. "I might be using him a little bit too much. That's my fault. His velocity is not there. I don't know if it's because I'm using him too much or if it's not there."

For the first time this spring, Bobby Jenks worked back-to-back games Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the Daily Southtown. "I finally feel I can go out there and repeat any pitch, which for me is the important thing right now," Jenks said. He had been dealing wtih a tight shoulder, but his velocity was regularly clocked at 94 mph.

Bobby Jenks, who has been battling a tight shoulder this spring, allowed one hit on 25 pitches over the first three innings of a "B" game against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, according to the AP. "He was throwing strikes. I think his velocity was still down, but I don't want him to reach 98. I just want him to throw strikes," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "He was a lot better today."

Bobby Jenks will throw three innings in a minor league game Saturday to work out problems with his mechanics, according to the AP. Jenks has a 10.50 ERA this spring. "I want to stretch him out a little bit," manager Ozzie Guillen said.

Bobby Jenks gave up three runs in the first of two innings pitched yesterday and now has a spring ERA of 10.50, according to the Daily Southtown. Jenks has allowed seven walks in six innings, and his velocity is below his usual range of 96-99 mph. "When you don't have your velocity there, you have (to have) command, and he doesn't have either one," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "You have to start stepping it up. Two weeks ago, I said, 'We have a long time. We have a couple of weeks.' Now it's time to go out and perform. I'm not saying he's not my closer, but I want to see better stuff."

After leaving his first spring outing with tightness in his shoulder, Bobby Jenks pitched a scoreless inning Thursday without any problems, according to the AP. "I felt great out there, health-wise. There was no tightness, no soreness," he said. "My main focus was making sure my mechanics worked consistently, whether it was a strike or not."

Bobby Jenks made his first appearance on Monday since leaving his first outing with tightness in his right shoulder, according to the Daily Southtown. Bobby Jenks had a day off from throwing Thursday but is expected to resume his throwing program today, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Jenks had to leave Wednesday's game after nine pitches because of tightness in his right shoulder. If all goes well in his side work, Jenks is scheduled to pitch against the Cubs on Sunday. "It feels good," Jenks said Thursday. "It was like we expected. The muscles released, so I've got full flexibility, which is good for me."

Bobby Jenks left yesterday's exhibition game due to tightness in his shoulder, which he's been dealing with throughout camp, according to the Daily Southtown. "Good news is after the game I went and saw (trainer Herm Schneider). Hermie said he isn't worried about it," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "He (Jenks) has to be careful with his mechanics a little bit because every time his mechanics are not in the right place, he's going to be sore at least for the beginning of spring training. We have to monitor him really well and see how he feels."
