Asdrubal Cabrera beat out Barfield for the second base job last season, and Barfield's .238 batting average this spring did little to change things. The Indians want him to head to the minors so he can play every day and hopefully get his career back on track.

Barfield has lost his starting job to Asdrubal Cabrera and could start the season in the minors, but Josh is not giving up and has worked on his swing and put in tireless hours in the off-season, with his former big-league father Jesse. The results have paid off as Josh is currently hitting .300 with one home run and three RBI over 20 at-bats.

Josh Barfield went 1-for-3 today in Cleveland's 9-5 win over the Phillies in Grapefruit League action, hitting a double and scoring two runs. Barfield is battling to stay in the mix for a spot on the major league roster this season, following a disappointing 2007 campaign in which he hit just .243 with three home runs in 420 at-bats. Today's game certainly helps.
