Barring a trade, Kevin Youkilis will enter next season as the leadoff man for the Red Sox, Terry Francona told the Boston Globe. Youkilis's OBP has been over .400 for most of the year, and even at .385 he's still 11th in the American League in that department. "We value the on-base a lot," Francona said. "I think Youkilis has done a great job."

There was been much speculation about where Kevin Youkilis would move in the Boston batting order once Coco Crisp returned to take over the leadoff spot. In Crisp's return on Sunday, Youkilis batted in the cleanup spot, behind David Ortiz. That will change when Manny Ramirez plays, but it looks as though Youkilis might bat as high as fifth or sixth when the Sox are at full strength.
