The Mariners re-signed Jamie Moyer to a one-year contract worth $5.5 million Wednesday.

The Mariners switched their rotation so that Ryan Franklin will pitch Wednesday and Jamie Moyer will go Friday so he has an extra start at Safeco Field where he's pitched will this season, according to the AP.

The Seattle Times reports that Jamie Moyer has turned down a trade to the Yankees. Citing unnamed East Coast sources, the Yankees attempted to acquire Moyer in a waiver trade but could not get an agreement from him to switch teams. If the Mariners didn't want to receive anything in return, they could have let the Yankees simply claim Moyer off waivers.

Jamie Moyer was originally scheduled to start tonight, but he's had his next start pushed back to Saturday because of stiffness in his lower back, according to the Seattle Times. Moyer said he had never experienced lower-back stiffness during his entire career. "I'd rather be precautionary and smart about it," Moyer said. "I don't want a setback. That's my biggest thing."

The Mariners announced on Saturday that they will push back Jamie Moyer's next start to separate him and Aaron Sele in the rotation. Moyer will now pitch on Wednesday, with reliever Julio Mateo moving into the rotation and pitching on Tuesday.
