The Tigers optioned Jack Hannahan to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday to open a roster spot for pitcher Zach Miner, according to the AP. Hannahan was hitless in nine at bats over three games with the Tigers. "We needed an extra pitcher," manager Jim Leyland said. "It's a temporary move. I don't how temporary."

Jack Hannahan made his major league debut earlier today when he got the start at first base. He hit fifth and went 0-for-6. Hannahan was hitting .282 with four home runs and 23 RBI for Triple-A Toledo at the time of his call up.

The Tigers recalled Jack Hannahan from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday to replace Dmitri Young on the active roster. Hannahan was hitting .282 in 38 games at Toledo and is expected to start at DH on Wednesday against the Royals.
