The Mets acquired Ryan Church and Brian Schneider from the Nats Friday in exchange for Lastings Milledge. Church put up some decent numbers in his first full year with the Nats in 2007, hitting .272 with 15 homers, 43 doubles and 70 RBI. He should be the Mets' everyday right fielder.

Ryan Church returned to Nationals' lineup on Wednesday, after sitting two games with a sore left forearm, and hit a pair of homers and drove in a career-high six runs, according to the AP. It was the third career multi-homer game for Church, who hadn't driven in more than four runs in any game previously.

Ryan Church had to eventually leave Sunday's game with a bruised left forearm after getting hit by an Erik Bedard pitch. An MRI on Church's arm showed there was no break, according to the AP. He hopes to play on Monday.

Ryan Church was pulled from Sunday's game in the second inning for not running out a grounder, according to the AP. "I'm a very patient man when it comes down to things that you can't control, like if you can't throw strikes or physical, mental errors -- those are things that sometimes you can't control," manager Manny Acta said. "But when it comes down to effort and playing hard, I don't have patience for that."

Ryan Church will open the year hitting seventh for the Nationals, the Washington Post reports. The entire lineup checks out like this: Felipe Lopez, Cristian Guzman, Ryan Zimmerman, Austin Kearns, Dmitri Young, Brian Schneider, Church and Nook Logan. Church hit just .215 in camp, with one homer in 65 at-bats.

Although Ryan Church is scheduled to compete with Kory Casto, Chris Snelling and Alex Escobar for the starting left field job during the spring, manager Manny Acta has said that if the season started tomorrow, Church would be the left fielder, according to the Washington Post. Church hit .276 with 10 homers and 35 RBI last year in 196 at-bats.
