Brad Hawpe launched his first long ball of the season on Wednesday night for the Rockies as he platted two runners on the night. Hawpe, who quietly put up 29 HR and 116 RBI last season, is likely the best number six hitter in the National League and he should continue to drive in runs in a potent Colorado attack.
April 2, 2008
Brad Hawpe continues to struggle with strikeouts as he whiffed three times over four at-bats against St. Louis on Tuesday. He struck out eight times in spring training and he really needs to cut down and get this under control.
March 23, 2008
Brad Hawpe returned to the starting lineup for the Rockies on Sunday, this according to ESPN MLB. The Roks outfielder missed the last 11 games with a sore left elbow. He spent most of his rehab time working in the cage. Hawpe had a productive return, going 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, to raise his spring average to .417. Add four RBI to his Sunday afternoon and the poor-man's Matt Holliday looks fit for the regular season despite his two week absence.
