Frustrated over Barry Zito's contract demands, the Mets are now reportedly looking at another A's pitcher, Rich Harden, according to the New York Post. Harden is due just $13.5 million over the next three years, so the A's might ask for more than Lastings Milledge and Aaron Heilman in a trade, which is what they reportedly asked for when discussing a potential Zito deal during this past season.

The A's aren't sure what Rich Harden is capable of, since he has pitched just 11 2/3 innings since early June, so it's unclear when he will pitch in the ALCS against the Tigers, according to the Contra Costa Times. He'll fly to Arizona to work an instructional league game today, which should give the A's a better idea of where he's at. Barry Zito will start Game 1, Esteban Loaiza will take the mound for Game 2 and Dan Haren for Game 3. So Harden is at least penciled in for Game 4.

A's manager Ken Macha announced on Tuesday that Rich Harden will start Game 4 of the ALDS against the Twins, if necessary, according to the AP. It was originally thought that Harden would get the nod in Game 3. Dan Haren is now slated to start the third game.
