Nick Swisher started at first base for the A's on Saturday. Swisher played just one game at first base for Triple-A Sacramento this season.

After being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento, Nick Swisher was supposed to split time with Bobby Kielty and Billy McMillon in the outfield, but he's started six of the last seven games, according to the Contra Costa Times. "I'm monitoring (Swisher's) at-bats every day," A's manager Ken Macha said. "Swisher is better defensively and has had some quality at-bats."

Outfield prospect Nick Swisher will probably be a September callup for the A's, according to the Contra Costa Times. However, that probably won't happen until the A's begin their next homestand on September 6. Swisher is hitting .263 with 28 homers and a .405 on-base percentage for Triple-A Sacramento.
