Although the Indians see Jeremy Guthrie as a starter down the road, he will compete for a bullpen job in spring training next season, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Indians recalled Jeremy Guthrie from Double-A Akron on Friday. He opened the year with Triple-A Buffalo, but was demoted after posting a 7.91 ERA through eight starts. He had an 8-8 record with a 4.21 ERA in 23 appearances with Akron before the promotion. He had recently been demoted from the rotation to the bullpen with Akron, so it's unclear if he will start for the Indians.

Still struggling in the minors, Jeremy Guthrie has been moved to the bullpen at Double-A Akron, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "If he's going to impact the major league team in the immediate future, it will be in the bullpen," said John Mirabelli, Indians director of scouting. Mirabelli added that he felt Guthrie "has the stuff to be a closer... He matches the profile."

The Indians have sent Jeremy Guthrie from Triple-A Buffalo to Double-A Trenton, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Guthrie, who was 1-2 with a 7.91 ERA in four starts, will work on a flaw in his delivery at Double-A.
