Only 31-31 with a 4.75 ERA over his minor league career entering this season, he has allowed only 10 hits and two runs in 18 innings this season with Buffalo. He'll work out of the bullpen for the Indians.

Indians GM Mark Shapiro has stated that some minor league pitchers are going to get chances to prove themselves as middle relievers with the Indians this year, and Jeremy Guthrie is a top candidate, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "He's a definitive option," said Shapiro. "This is the best Guthrie has pitched with us." Guthrie is currently 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA for Triple-A Buffalo and has made seven relief appearances for the Indians between 2004 and 2005. Had he not made a minor league start on Wednesday, it's likely that he would have already been recalled.
