Jeremy Guthrie, who is battling an oblique injury, will throw a side session on Monday and is expected to start for the Orioles on Thursday, according to the AP. Considering Guthrie hasn't started since Sept. 9, it'd be risky to put him in your starting lineup this week.

Jeremy Guthrie (oblique) worked in the bullpen Saturday and could start next week, the AP reports. If he feels up to it, the club will probably use him at home against Toronto Wednesday or Thursday.

Jeremy Guthrie, out with a strained oblique, will throw a side session on Saturday, according to the Baltimore Sun. "We'll see how I feel [Sunday], but right now, I feel good," Guthrie said. "That's all you can go off of." Guthrie is still hoping to make a start before the end of the season, but it's unclear as to whether that will happen or not.

Jeremy Guthrie (strained left oblique) had a long-toss session Tuesday, the AP reports. "If he can't pitch and throw a full sideline by next Sunday, I'm going to shut him down," manager Dave Trembley said.

Jeremy Guthrie, out with a strained oblique, played catch Sunday and said he was 90 percent pain-free, according to the Baltimore Sun. Guthrie hopes to return to the mound soon, but manager Dave Trembley said the hurler would only return if he could start.

Jeremy Guthrie, recovering from a rib cage injury, was able to play catch Saturday. Guthrie will make another start this year only if he's able to get stretched out enough to start, manager Dave Trembley told the AP.

The Orioles are hopeful that Jeremy Guthrie, who is battling a rib cage injury will pitch again before the season ends, according to the Baltimore Sun. "It's not an arm issue where you think it's recovered, but you're still nervous. I have a really good feeling, for whatever reason," he said. It's still unclear as to when he might be able to rejoin the Orioles.

Jeremy Guthrie's strained rib cage muscle showed improvement from Sunday, when he got hurt, but the Orioles still aren't sure if he can pitch again this season, the AP reports.
September 10, 2007
Jeremy Guthrie was forced to exit Sunday's game due to a strained oblique muscle. "It's just unfortunate that it happened," Orioles manager Dave Trembley told the Baltimore Sun. "Guthrie's had a great rookie campaign. It's unfortunate that the timing of this is at this point in time in the season when our pitching has been so thin." Exactly. With only a few weeks left in the season, it's highly unlikely that he will be able to pitch again in a game.

The Orioles are keeping a close eye on Jeremy Guthrie, so he doesn't get burned out. He pulled himself out of Thursday's game after throwing 92 pitches, according to the Baltimore Sun. "You're not going to force a guy - especially as good as he's been pitching - to go back out there and hurt himself," manager Sam Perlozzo said. Guthrie had already made it through seven innings and allowed one run on those 92 pitches, and he's worked at least seven innings each of his past seven starts, which shows why the Orioles plan to baby him when necessary. They want to keep him fresh for the long haul.

Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo said he was "pretty sure" that Jeremy Guthrie would start Tuesday's game, according to the Baltimore Sun. Guthrie is 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in seven appearances (one start) this season. He would be replacing the injured Adam Loewen in the rotation.

Jeremy Guthrie will start Sunday for the Orioles, replacing the injured Jaret Wright, according to the Baltimore Sun. However, there's a realistic chance the game could be rained out, in which case his start might simply be skipped. Guthrie's posted a 3.19 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings this season.
April 12, 2007
Jeremy Guthrie is the leading candidate to fill in for the injured Jaret Wright on Sunday, according to the AP. Guthrie has a 3.18 ERA over 5 2/3 innings this season. "If I start, great. Hopefully I can pitch as well as Jaret did his last outing," Guthrie said. Guthrie threw three innings on Tuesday in his last appearance, and would be ready to start Sunday if not forced into action on Thursday or Friday. "If he has to pitch long, then we'll have another plan to make," manager Sam Perlozzo said.
April 11, 2007
Jeremy Guthrie is a candidate to fill in for Jaret Wright on Sunday if Wright is unable to make the start, according to the AP. Kurt Birkins is another option.

The Orioles claimed Jeremy Guthrie off waivers from the Indians last week, and there's a good chance he'll make the team, according to the Baltimore Sun. If Guthrie is not placed on the opening day roster, he'll have to be exposed to waivers before being sent to the minors, and he probably would not clear waivers. Guthrie will most likely compete for a bullpen job, but there's an outside chance that he could beat out Adam Loewen for the final rotation spot.

The Indians designated former top prospect Jeremy Guthrie for assignment in order to clear room for Trot Nixon on the 40-man roster. Guthrie was 9-5 with a 3.14 ERA in 21 games for Triple-A Buffalo last year, including 20 starts.
