If Joe Blanton doesn't start pitching better, it's possible the Athletics could replace him in the rotation once Rich Harden and Esteban Loaiza return from the DL, according to the official team website. The team would like to put Brad Halsey and Kirk Saarloos (who are currently filling in for Harden and Loaiza), back in the bullpen. However, either of them could be inserted into the rotation if Blanton, who is 4-5 with a 6.02 ERA, continues to struggle.
