Having been sidelined since Aug. 21 with a sore lower back, Runelvys Hernandez returned to action on Saturday. He took a loss to the red-hot Indians, who worked him over for five runs on six hits and two walks before he was pulled after the third inning.

Runelvys Hernandez had the appeal of his 10-game suspension denied on Thursday, according to the AP. He was suspended for a beanball incident on July 17th at Detroit that led to a bench-clearing brawl. Hernandez is on the DL with back and shoulder problems and is eligible to be activated on September 6. His suspension will begin at that time.

Hernandez said he will appeal Major League Baseball's ruling and plans to start on Friday against the Blue Jays. He insists that he wasn't aiming at Guillen's head and felt the penalty was severe.
