The Yankees purchased the contract of Wil Nieves from Triple-A Columbus Thursday, according to the AP. He hit .292 with four homers and 37 RBI for Columbus this season.

The Angels shipped Wil Nieves off to the Yankees on Tuesday in exchange for Bret Prinz, according to the AP. Nieves will be assigned to Triple-A Columbus, but he could be the first player called up if something happens to either Jorge Posada or John Flaherty.
