| December 5, 2007 Francisco Liriano is progressing well in his rehab from Tommy John surgery, according to the AP. "I saw him in the Instructional League and he is throwing free and easy," Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire said Wednesday at the Winter Meetings. "We know it's a process, but he's progressing fine. We'll have to see where he is (during spring training). The ball is popping out of his hand." Liriano, who missed all of the 2007 season, should be ready for spring, but a setback could alter his return date. |

"We have a rehab schedule, and I think we're pretty much pointing toward winter ball," GM Terry Ryan said. "He might be able to participate in some drills in the [fall] instructional league camp ... but we are not going to jeopardize anything with this young man's future." Liriano has spent the past three months strengthening the elbow and building up the rest of his body. |
