Tom Glavine is hopeful he can pitch again this season and will have his first throwing session on Tuesday, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "If I start throwing and it feels good, I would love to get back on the mound in the first couple of days after the All-Star break," said Glavine

Tom Glavine has been told to rest his sore left elbow for the next 4-6 weeks. The program includes total rest for two weeks before the veteran begins strengthening exercises, according to the AP. Glavine said two MRI exams have confirmed the ligament in the elbow is strong, but the problem is the flexor tendon, which is pulling away from the bone.

Tom Glavine is hoping 4-6 weeks will be enough for his left elbow to heal on its own, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. If that time proves to be insufficient, the 42-year-old could face surgery. "It's not the kind of thing they've given me any guarantees on," said Glavine. The veteran could end up retiring instead of getting cut. "You want [your career] to end on top of your game," Glavine said. "Sometimes your body tells you it's time to go home. If this is the case, much like John [Smoltz] has said, then who am I to complain? I'm lucky I've gotten to this point in my career without going on the DL. I guess time catches up with you sooner or later."

Tom Glavine's MRI revealed that he has a small tear in his flexor tendon, according to the AP. GM Frank Wren stated that he will likely be out until around the All-Star break.
