Luis Ayala took a big step on Wednesday. He threw a bullpen session on told the Washington Post that he's "100 percent." Ayala will begin a minor league rehab assignment soon, and he is expected to take the full 30 days. He missed the entire 2006 season due to Tommy John surgery and is still rehabbing his right elbow.

Luis Ayala is likely to begin the year on the DL as he recovers from elbow surgery, according to the Washington Post. "We have to make conservative decisions based on the injury that he's overcoming," GM Jim Bowden said. "I expect him to start the year on the disabled list. I won't rule out the possibility of that changing, but as of today, the projection on my board is that he would start the year on the disabled list."
