Gerald Laird is platooning with Rod Barajas at catcher for the Rangers now, according to the Dallas Morning News. Laird is starting against left-handers and Barajas is facing right-handers. "We've got a good catching situation," manager Buck Showalter said. "Rod is just now getting back to the level of which he's capable. Gerald's hitting .500 against lefties; Rod's hitting .300 against right-handers. They work well together and they've shown a real good attitude about it."

Gerald Laird is expected to get the start tonight, reports the Rangers website. Laird is currently hitting .354 with 2 HR and 4 RBI in 48 ABs.
