Jason Kubel took batting practice on Friday and is feeling better after straining his oblique at Los Angeles against the Angels last Saturday, the AP reports. "He's swinging OK," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "At first he was a little bit tentative, but the more swings he took, the better he did." Kubel was available to pinch hit and could be back in the outfield in the next few days, Gardenhire said.

Jason Kubel hit lightly off a tee and did some light agility work on Tuesday, his first real action since straining his right oblique while striking out in the second inning Saturday, the AP reports. Kubel said he felt better and might be able to take a full batting practice on Friday when the Twins return home. "They don't tell me how many days it's going to be but they don't think it's going to be a DL type thing," Twins' manager Ron Gardenhire said.

Jason Kubel was able to take 25 swings without pain on Monday and may not be headed for the disabled list after all. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Kubel's strained right oblique muscle felt good enough that he may be able to return to the lineup as soon as Friday.

It appears likely that Jason Kubel will require a trip to the disabled list, though the Twins plan to wait a couple of days to make sure that's necessary. "This is not something that goes away in a day or two. Usually it's a couple of weeks, at least," manager Ron Gardenhire told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Kubel strained his right oblique on Saturday. All signs point to a DL stint, but there's at least a chance that he will show enough improvement to stay active.

Jason Kubel could be out of action for a while after straining an oblique muscle in his chest Saturday. "We won't really know how bad it is until (today)," mabager Ron Gardenhire told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "Obliques are one of those things that can linger on forever, so I don't have an answer for how long it's going to be. But obviously it's not a short-term thing. We'll know more (today)." Things don't sound promising for Kubel, who could end up on the disabled list. We'll know more once he's examined further on Sunday.

Jason Kubel wasn't supposed to start on Thursday, but he got the nod because of several injuries in the Twins outfield and responded by going 3-for-4 with a homer and a double. He broke an 0-for-16 stretch and bounced back from an awful at-bat in a pinch-hitting appearance on Wednesday. Manager Ron Gardenhire addressed Kubel's three-pitch strikeout against left Andrew Miller, telling the team's official website, "That's a tough lefty, but you've got to swing. Three fastballs. It wasn't breaking balls. Take the first one, I understand. Second one, third one, you've gotta swing…Somewhere in there, you've gotta take a whack."

Jason Kubel wasn’t in the lineup on Tuesday, but he continues to progress after leaving last Saturday’s game with a hyperextended right knee. “If the leg is good, then we can start using him again,” manager Ron Gardenhire told the team’s official website. “The trainers seem to think he’ll be fine and that’s what I’m hoping too.” Kubel is considered day-to-day.
June 11, 2007
Jason Kubel had his hyperextended right knee examined on Sunday after leaving Saturday's game early due to the injury. An MRI wasn't required, and he said he hopes to return to action on Tuesday, according to the Star-Tribune. Kubel's had a long history if knee problems, but it looks like he avoided anything serious this time.

Jason Kubel said his knees are completely healthy right now, after being plagued by problems the past two seasons, according to the Pioneer Press. The Twins view him as a DH candidate, but manager Ron Gardenhire said the team hasn't given up hope that at some point Kubel could be an everyday outfielder.
