Ryan Shealy collected his eighth home run in Triple-A Omaha's 4-1 loss at Sacramento on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. Shealy is only hitting .213, but has 13 RBI.

Ryan Shealy blasted his third home run on Sunday for Triple-A Omaha and collected eight RBI over 10 games, but was batting just .184, according to MLB.com.

Ryan Shealy, whose miserable 2007 has put him behind the eight-ball this year, is fighting for at-bats and possibly a spot on the team's opening day roster. According to the Kansas City Star, Shealy faces an uphill battle this spring to win a roster spot. With Billy Butler, Ross Gload and Mark Teahen certain to make the club --Shealy has an option remaining -- and projects as the odd man out.

Ryan Shealy homered for the second straight game on Thursday as he attempts to work his way back into the Royals' plans this season. Shealy hit .280-7-36 in 193 AB for the Royals in 2006 before slumping to .221-3-21 in 172 AB last season. Given the fact that Ross Gload and Justin Huber are also around, Shealy will have to prove himself with a solid spring to break camp with the club.

Ryan Shealy is expected to rejoin the Royals Wednesday for their road trip to Scottsdale, Ariz, according to MLB.com. "I've got him on the travel list for tomorrow," manager Trey Hillman said. "We'll see how he feels today and make a decision." Shealy has been out with a bad case of the flu and will have to step things up quickly if he's going to earn a roster spot this spring.
