Daniel Cabrera was sharp in his second start of the year Monday, allowing just two runs over 7 2/3 innings against the Tigers. Most importantly for Cabrera, he didn't walk anyone and he didn't allow the Tigers any stolen bases; those two things were significant problems for him in his opening-day turn at Minnesota.

Daniel Cabrera will probably make a few more starts before the Orioles decide to make any significant changes aimed at preventing stolen bases, the Washington Post reports. Although Cabrera was effective in his first start of the year Tuesday (allowing three runs over seven innings, with nine strikeouts), the Twins also stole four bases against him. For what it's worth, Cabrera said after Tuesday's game he'd try to be quicker to the plate. "It's a fine line there," manager Sam Perlozzo said. "We can call some slide steps and things like that to get him a little bit better. But last year he was a lot better at it. We'll get him through the first start and then make adjustments after that."

Daniel Cabrera had an up-and-down opener against the Twins Tuesday, allowing six hits and three runs over seven innings and taking the loss. Cabrera had nine strikeouts against four walks - numbers fantasy owners can live with - but the Twins took advantage of his slow delivery to the plate by stealing four bases.

Daniel Cabrera worked three scoreless innings against the Mets Thursday, giving up just one baserunner and striking out four. He's now worked five scoreless innings this spring. "I've got the same windup as last year, but the difference is I feel like I'm more consistent now," Cabrera told the Baltimore Sun. Cabrera has the advantage of a full spring with pitching coach Leo Mazzone, unlike last year, when he left the team to pitch in the World Baseball Classic.

Daniel Cabrera and the Orioles have reached an oral agreement on a one-year contract, according to the Baltimore Sun. By doing so, the two sides managed to avoid dealing with salary arbitration this offseason.
