Player Notes
September 21, 2007
Rickie Weeks had a home run and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to Atlanta. He's been very productive since rejoining the Brewers last month, hitting .278 with 29 runs, six homers and 12 steals over 32 games. He's also walked 28 times over that span, and for the year he's 22-for-24 on the basepaths. Weeks still has time on his side (he turned 25 this month), so look for him on a lot of breakthrough lists next season.

The Brewers recalled Rickie Weeks from Triple-A on Thursday to replace the injured Tony Graffanino on the roster. Weeks was hitting .455 (10-for-22) since being sent to Triple-A, which is encouraging, although it's possible that his wrist could still be an issue for the rest of the year.

The Brewers will recall Rickie Weeks from Triple-A Nashville Thursday to replace the injured Tony Graffanino on the roster. Weeks is hitting .455 in six games since being demoted to Triple-A.
August 9, 2007
The Brewers will likely recall Rickie Weeks from Triple-A Nashville if Tony Graffanino is forced to go on the DL. Weeks is hitting .455 in six games since being demoted, so perhaps he can re-discover his stroke at the big-league level, as well.
August 7, 2007
Rickie Weeks is off to a fast start at Triple-A Nashville, picking up seven hits in his first 15 at-bats. Manager Ned Yost hasn't given any thought yet to whether that would mean a quick recall back to the majors for the second baseman who was demoted after hitting .212 in 259 at-bats. "Rickie's doing a nice job down there," Yost said in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "He's doing exactly what we want him to do. We just want him to keep doing it."
August 1, 2007
The Brewers optioned Rickie Weeks to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday night, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports. Weeks is hitting .212.
July 19, 2007
Rickie Weeks went 0-for-4 Wednesday and is now in a 2-for-31 slump. Ned Yost said earlier in the week that Tony Graffanino and Craig Counsell will also see playing time at second base.
July 18, 2007
The slumping Rickie Weeks was held out of Tuesday's lineup, though GM Doug Melvin said there is no plan to send Weeks to the minors to get straightened out, the Brewers official site reports. Tony Graffanino started Tuesday, and for now Ned Yost plans to divide starts at second base between Graffanino, Craig Counsell and Weeks. "It's tough, but we're in a stage where production really matters," Yost said. "We're not in the business of developing right now. It's the second half of the season, we've got a job to do and I've got to put the most productive players on the field that I can . . . Rickie is still going to get his opportunities to play and get himself out of it, and I explained that to him. But it's been a real, real struggle for Rick." Weeks is batting just .148 since coming off the disabled list on June 18.
July 8, 2007
Rickie Weeks went 0-for-2 with a walk Saturday, dropping him into a 2-for-37 slump. "Rickie has no luck," Ned Yost told the AP.
July 3, 2007
The Brewers gave Rickie Weeks a night off on Monday. He is 7-for-36 (.194) since coming off the disabled list. "He's not letting the ball come to him," hitting coach Jim Skaalen tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "He's a little quick going forward. We're trying to get him to forget the pull side of the field completely. (After the wrist injury) he's still concerned about getting beat on the fastball." Weeks has missed time in each of the past two campaigns due to right wrist ailments. He also dealt with a thumb injury in 2005.
June 18, 2007
The Brewers activated Rickie Weeks from the disabled list on Monday. He had been sidelined since June 1 with tendinitis in his right wrist, according to the AP. Weeks should be back in the starting lineup tonight, but it is worth noting that Weeks is expected to deal with wrist issues for the rest of the season, so there's still quite a bit of risk here.
June 17, 2007
Rickie Weeks got through a simulated game Saturday without any problems. The Brewers plan to activate him from the disabled list on Monday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Weeks has been out with a sore right wrist, but it's safe to put him back into your active lineup for next week.

June 9, 2007
Rickie Weeks was able to take some grounders and work out a bit yesterday. It was his first activity since receiving a cortisone shot in his sore right wrist a week before, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Weeks said he was feeling better, so it appears he could come off the disabled list when eligible on Thursday.
June 1, 2007
Rickie Weeks received a cortisone shot in his ailing right wrist on Friday. Dr. Don Sheridan examined the wrist and confirmed that Weeks has tendonitis, the AP reports. Weeks is on the disabled list.
June 1, 2007
The Brewers placed Rickie Weeks on the 15-day disabled list Thursday retroactive to Wednesday due to a sore right wrist that continues to hamper him because of scar tissue breaking up, according to the AP. Weeks is scheduled to fly to Phoenix on Friday to be checked out by Dr. Don Sheridan, who performed season-ending surgery on Weeks' right wrist last year to fix a tendon that was snapping out of place.
May 31, 2007
Rickie Weeks was out of the starting lineup for the second straight day on Thursday as he continues to struggle with a sore right wrist, according to the AP. Brewers manager Ned Yost said Weeks could pinch-hit, run or play the field, but he has not been allowed to take batting practice.
May 22, 2007
Rickie Weeks, who missed the previous four games because of a sore right wrist, went 4-for-5 with three RBI Monday night against the Dodgers. "After those four days off, I really wanted to get back to the game and help the team any way possible," said Weeks. "I can't stand to be away from the game for a long period of time, and all the frustration just built up."
May 21, 2007
Rickie Weeks expects to be in the lineup on Monday. He has missed the last four games due to soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist. "It's just scar tissue trying to break up," Weeks tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "I think it's helped. The main thing is to come back, and I'll be ready to go tomorrow."
May 19, 2007
Rickie Weeks has missed the past two games because his surgically repaired right wrist is bothering him. He's been advised to rest the joint a little longer, too, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Constitution. "It's just scar tissue, that's all," said Weeks. "(Team physician William Raasch) said in a few days it should be all right. They just want it to calm down. It's been bothering me some. It's frustrating but it's still early in the season. We've still got a lot of games left. It'll be all right in a couple of days." Weeks has just four hits in his last 27 at-bats, so it seems the sore wrist has been bothering his swing. Hopefully, a little rest will clear up the problem. Keep him benched today.
April 30, 2007
Rickie Weeks missed his second straight game Monday, and the Brewers revealed for the first time that he has a bruised right index finger, the team's official site reports. Weeks says he's not concerned about the injury, though. "Not at all. I could go play if they needed me."
April 30, 2007
Rickie Weeks was rested Sunday against Houston, his second day off of the year. Although Weeks is hitting just .247 for April, he's been productive in the other categories (19 runs, five homers, 12 RBI, five steals).
March 9, 2007
The only lock in Ned Yost's batting order right now is Rickie Weeks batting leadoff, the Brewers official site reports.
March 1, 2007
Rickie Weeks was cleared to take some batting practice yesterday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He's being cautious with his return from wrist surgery, so he'll be limited to bunting in games for now.
February 28, 2007
Rickie Weeks has been restricted to bunting to take it easy on his surgically repaired right wrist, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "We probably won't let him swing the bat in games until next week," said manager Ned Yost, who still plans to use Weeks in the field. "He's feeling good but the trainers are still nervous about him swinging."
February 23, 2007
Although Rickie Weeks says his surgically-repaired right wrist feels great, the team will wait a couple of days before he begins hitting off a tee and soft toss, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.
February 21, 2007
An examination of Rickie Weeks' surgically repaired wrist revealed no structural damage, and the doctor that performed the surgery stated that the soreness Weeks is feeling is normal for this stage of recovery, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "The doctor just wanted to knock out the residual soreness," assistant general manager Gord Ash said. "The X-rays were normal. It's just part of what you have to go through. So, actually, the news was quite good." Weeks received a cortisone injection and will be held out of hitting drills for a few days.
February 19, 2007
Rickie Weeks had some soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist while swinging a bat recently, so he won't swing again until he sees a specialist, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "We want him to see the operating surgeon before he progresses to live hitting," GM Gord Ash said. "He is experiencing a little bit of pain and soreness and we want to make sure it's nothing serious. We don't think it is. Any time a player is coming off surgery, you want to take it slow. We don't consider it a red flag."
