Manager Bob Melvin has named Stephen Drew his leadoff hitter, according to the AP. "He's an on-base guy, he's a power guy, he can handle the bat," Melvin said. "He's not afraid of the challenge of leading off. One of the things we want to impress upon him is, `Don't change your game to lead off.' A lot of times, the only time you lead off is that first inning of the game. Drew led off three times for the D'Backs in 2006.

"The one thing I've found is he can acclimate to any spot in the order," Melvin said. "Originally, I was a little apprehensive about using him in the leadoff spot, but I've come to grips that he can be a horse there as well."
