Fred Lewis was activated off the 15-day disabled list Saturday. He's coming back from a strained muscle in his right side, and he was strong in a week-long rehab assignment at Triple-A, going 13-for-34 with two homers and 12 RBI. Lewis doesn't appear to have a regular spot with the Giants now that Dave Roberts is back, however; he was used as a pinch hitter Saturday, striking out.

Fred Lewis began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno on Saturday, according to the Contra Costa Times. Manager Bruce Bochy said there wasn't a timetable for his return. "We just need to let him get his timing back," he said. Lewis is recovering from a strained muscle in his side and won't offer much even when he's ready to play.

Fred Lewis, who is on the DL with a strained right side muscle, is in less pain now after getting injured Friday night, according to the AP. He is working to get his motion back and doing a lot of stretching and treatment. "The way I feel, it shouldn't be any longer than two weeks," he said. "But I don't want to rush into things."

Four days after being recalled from Triple-A, Fred Lewis hit for the cycle on Sunday against the Rockies. It was the 24th cycle in Giants history. Lewis went 5-for-6 on the day with four RBI and three runs scored while batting in the leadoff spot. With Dave Roberts sidelined for up to six weeks, Lewis should continue to get the majority of the playing time in center field for the Giants.
