Pat Neshek has been placed on the 15-day DL on Friday, after an MRI exam revealed an acute partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow, according to ESPN. Neshek will not be allowed to throw for a minimum of three months, which means the injury has ended his season. But he said he won't need surgery. Neshek said, "Obviously it's really bad, but it's good I can come back and rehab this and not have to go through surgery and sit out for a good year. So we're going to prepare for Opening Day next year. It just needs a little bit of time to heal and a little bit of rehab to build it back up."

Pat Neshek will have his injured elbow examined by team orthopedist Dan Buss today, according to the Star Tribune. Neshek said he hadn't experienced any pain in the elbow before he threw a slider to Joe Crede of the White Sox in the eighth inning. Neshek said, "I just felt something tweak. The trainers came out, and we wanted to just play it safe and make sure nothing bad happened."

Pat Neshek felt a pop in his elbow on Thursday and had to be removed from the game with a right elbow strain, according to the Associated Press. "I felt something tweak," Neshek said. "It kind of rolled over real quick like a snap. I'll get it checked out [Friday] morning and make sure nothing happened."

Pat Neshek had an awful outing on Monday as he allowed three runs on three hits in just 0.2 innings to pick up his first blown save of the season for the Twins. Last season in 74 appearances, Neshek allowed three earned runs only twice so don't expect another repeat of this outing any time soon.

The Twins have decided to shut down Pat Neshek for the remainder of the season due to his sore elbow. "It's the right thing to do," Neshek told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I can feel (pain) in there when I throw. I could keep going, but I'm not helping anybody by putting runners on base and giving up runs." Neshek will end his season with a 2.94 ERA and 1.01 WHIP, while striking out 74 batters in 70 1/3 innings.
