Justin Upton is set to make his professional debut at center field when he plays his first game for Class A South Bend today, according to the Arizona Republic. Diamondbacks farm director A.J. Hinch said the 18-year-old has been swinging the bat well in extended spring training, feeling no ill effects of a shoulder injury that kept him from beginning the season with South Bend.

With shortstop Stephen Drew already in the way in the Diamondbacks' system, the club plans to move Justin Upton from short to center field once he recovers from a minor shoulder injury, according to the Arizona Republic. The No. 1 overall pick in 2005 is at Single-A South Bend. "We're dealing with an incredible athlete who has a chance to move quickly due to his offensive strengths, and in order to keep him on track, we think this is the best move," said A.J. Hinch, Diamondbacks manager of minor league operations.
