He hit several balls into the seats at Chase Field, and marked the first time he has hit outside since sustaining his injury July 9. Melvin said, "We've been pretty cautious based on how he's felt day to day. There haven't been any setbacks, but there have been certain days where he's been pretty sore based on whatever treatment he's getting. We still don't know. We could use him. Looking at it like we did going into the All-Star break we thought he might have a chance to come back right after that. It's been lengthier than we anticipated."
