The Dodgers will use Takashi Saito as their closer in the NLCS if the match-ups favor him, according to the L.A. Times.

Manager Joe Torre said Takashi Saito could close if there is a save situation in Game 1 against Chicago, according to the LA Times.

Takashi Saito recorded his 18th save of the year on Saturday night in the Dodgers' 2-1 win over the Giants.

Takashi Saito has continued to work well since his return from an elbow issue, and he is close to reclaiming the closers role, according to the Dodgers Official Website. I think [Saito's] more emotionally equipped for that because he's done it," manager Joe Torre said. "That's been his primarily role. I'm comfortable with [Jonathan Broxton], but again, once Saito gets there, we have a little more length. Brox, I think, has done a fine job in the closer's spot."

As expected, Takashi Saito has been activated from the 60-day DL following his bout with an elbow injury, according to the AP. To make room for Saito on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers placed outfielder Andruw Jones on the 60-day DL.
